And I Wait

I sit by the water

And watch the remnants of the moonlight

Sip the dark stream

Up like a straw

It is dawn

And I am still waiting

For the sun to rise

The moon has been here too long

I sit by the grass

And watch the blades grow

And dance in the wind

Like it’s a song

It is dawn

And I am still waiting

For the sun to rise

The moon is slowly falling behind the trees.

I sit on my legs

And watch

The hands move up and down my spine

Like rope being tied in knots

It is dawn

And I am still waiting

For the sun to rise

For the moon is gone into the darkness

And the sun has yet to rise.

So I sit

And I wait

Under these stars

Not knowing the difference

Between the ones in the sky

And the ones covering

My blurred, closing eyes.

Where are you?

It is still too dark...

Now all I can do,

is wait.

About The "Author"

I was born and raised in central New Jersey-- lovely, I know-- as a Quaker/Jewish child hybrid. I grew up with a love for reading and writing (as my dad was an English major). I lived and attended school in NJ until my sophomore year. I transitioned into a boarding school in Pennslyvania, where my passion for writing, art, performing, ACTIVISM, and (of course) poetry, flourished.

In my writing, you're going to find me. Whether that be my struggles, my thoughts, my stories, my successes, it really depends on what you decide to read. Feel free to contact me any time for questions or even just a conversation about stuff. Happy reading!
